Chocolate Fondant Cake
I’ve always been intrigued by fondant cakes. The combination of oozy chocolate inside of a cake has always made my mouth water. After bingeing on episode after episode of Masterchef, I decided to give fondant making a shot! I mean chocolate with chocolate where could it go wrong?
You will need:
- 55 grams of dark chocolate
- 45 grams of butter
- 50 grams of sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla essence
- 1 egg, beaten
- 40 grams of flour, sifted
- 1 tablespoon of cocoa, sifted
- cocoa powder for garnishing (optional)
- A scoop of ice cream (optional)
- A tea cup for baking the cake in
Step one: Pre-heat oven to 180 C on bake.
Step two: Melt 55 grams of chocolate and 45 grams of butter together in a bowl, over a boiling saucepan of water.
Step three: Remove chocolate mixture from the heat and whisk in the vanilla essence and the egg.
Step four: Fold in 40 grams of flour and the cocoa powder until silky smooth.
Step five: Pour mixture into teacup and bake for 12-15 minutes. A cake-like crust should have formed on the outside leaving the inside to be gooey and warm.
Dust with cocoa powder and serve with a scoop of ice cream, then ENJOY!!!!
